Guys and gals. It’s going to be a headbangers’ ball on the silver screen as Bollywood’s first credible movie on rock music is about to hit the theatres.
Rock On – as the name says it all – is about four friends who form a rock band that falls apart before it could become famous. Years later, the quartet gang up again. The music that lay dormant in them explodes out in melodies that rock the listeners.
The movie stars Farhan Akhtar , Arjun Rampal , Luke Kenny, Purab Kohli and Prachi Desai .
Character Sketches:
Farhan Akhtar as Aditya Shroff
Aditya is a bohemian guy from Delhi who left the comforts of his parents’ home to follow his dream of becoming a singer in a rock band. He has flair for unconventional poetry that, albeit, has a message for today's youth. On top of it, his singing abilities make him an instant hit with Generation X.
Arjun Rampal as Joe Mascarenhas
Joe’s an idealist. He’s a man of few words and lets his guitar do the talking. And he does have the talent to make his guitar talk. Apart from his skills, his loyalty towards his girlfriend and his band make him a hero. He is the lead guitarist of the band.
Purab Kohli as KD (Kedar Zaveri)
Kedar prefers to be called as KD or "Killer Drummer". He is the scion of a successful jeweler family. He and his father don't see eye to eye on most issues, but KD has his mind made up to be a drummer. And when he’s on stage, it may appear that he’s slamming the drums with vengeance, but that’s just KD’s style.
Luke Kenny as Rob Nancy
Rob is the laidback, quiet, cool-as-a-cucumber keyboardist of the band. If ever a disagreement arose between the band members, trust Rob to step in and resolve the issue. He’s part of the band because he loves what it’s really all about – the friendship and the Bond. His Keyboard is an extension of his mind.
‘Rock On’ is a film about four youths, their dreams, their ambitions, their vanities and follies. Their dreams bring them together but their follies tear them apart. Years later, fate conspires to bring them together again. This time, they’re more grounded, and hence ready to take off.
The movie is directed by Abhishek Kapoor . It has music by Shankar Ehsaan Loy and lyrics by Javed Akhtar .
