Preeti Jhangiani : A simple girl or a siren!

We have seen her playing a simple, homely girl in her early films. But then, we have also seen her in sexually provocative roles. So what really is Preeti Jhangiani up to?

Preeti’s acting career began with Yash Chopra’s Mohabbatein and soon she acquired the onscreen image of a homely girl. And she did simple, low-key roles in films like Awara Paagal Deewana , Annarth and ‘Baaz’.

But consecutive failures at the box-office forced Preeti to think seriously about the way her acting career was headed. And so we saw her shed her homely image and swap those suits and saris for skimpy dresses and low-necks.

The result was a raunchy music video that showed an entirely new side of Preeti. And then came her sleazy act in the movie ‘Chaahat Ek Nasha’ in which she even shot a few bold scenes with the movie’s hero, Aryan Vaid .

But even this sleazy transformation didn’t work for Preeti as the movie sank at the box-office in its very first week. As a result, Preeti underwent another image makeover.

Unfortunately, success still continues to elude Preeti. Her last two releases, Ssukh and ‘Chaand Ke Paar Chalo’ have flopped.

So what is the point of shuttling between the two different images?

While Preeti acknowledges that her raunchy act in ‘Chaahat’ was “a mistake” and she would never do such a film again, she doesn’t rule out the possibility of doing bold roles.

"I had never made any conscious effort to do only Indian roles. I think one must play different roles," Preeti is quoted in a media report.

By the way, Preeti’s next movie will be a British-Punjabi film titled Sajna ve Sajna. Hope this time she gets lucky.
