Getting relegated as a mere ‘item girl’ in Bollywood was not acceptable to Koena Mitra . The sensuous girl considers the item tag “disgusting” and “contemptuous”. So she moved away from single-song appearances and emerged as an actress in her two recent releases Musafir and Insan . 
It was perhaps her performance in these two flicks that brought her to the reckoning of filmmakers in Bollywood. So when Bipasha Basu excused herself from Pritish Nandy Communications’ tentatively titled film ‘Boss’ (because of her date problems), she was replaced by Koena. Koena will play Fardeen Khan ’s heroine in the film. The movie also stars Aditya Pancholi in a ‘stellar’ role. And there is also likelihood of a veteran actor making a special appearance in the film. The film will be directed by debutant Suparn Verma.
