Sreekumaran The pride of Malayalam cinema, Meera Jasmine seems well set to make her presence felt in Telugu film world, too. Well, that conclusion is inescapable if the way she is making progress in Tollywood is any guide. 
The latest buzz from Tollywood is that the talented Malayalam heroine has just been signed up to act against Atul Kulkarni in a Telugu film. The film, entitled "Kaamli" is being directed by KNT Shastri, who is a journalist and film critic as well. Incidentally, his first film "Tiladanam" had won a national award and received rave reviews. "Kaamli" deals with an issue that convulsed Andhra Pradesh recently: infant sale. Shastri had originally planned to have actress Soundarya as the heroine. But as ill luck would have it, Soundarya died in a helicopter crash. The project was shelved following Soundarya's tragic death. At last, Shastri has decided to revive the project with Meera Jasmine playing the female lead role in the film. It's a challenging role for Meera. But then, Meera is no stranger to challenging roles. She has done an amazing variety of complex roles. One of them, TV Chandran's "Paadam Onnu Oru Vilapam" fetched her the best actress award at the national level. There has been no looking back for Meera since then. She is already a well-established actress in Tamil film world. Of course, in Malayalam cinema, she is reigning supreme. As if she is not happy with all that success, the Jasmine girl is now aiming to dig in her heels in Tollywood, too.
