Sreekumaran The success of Vettayadu Vilayadu has put Kamal Haasan back at where he belongs: the very top. The Tamil superstar, second only to Rajnikant in star appeal, had been eclipsed by a crop of younger actors like Vijay , Vikram and Surya in the last few years. 
The principal reason for his downgrading was the flop of his last film, Mumbai Xpress . Vijay usurped his no. 2 position with a host of hits. Vikram too rose to dizzy heights with the spectacular run of Anniyan . Surya tasted success with the fabulous reception the Murugadoss-directed Ghajini received at the box office. The 'victory parade' of the youth brigade saw Kamal slipping down a few notches in terms of popularity and star value. But ‘Vettayadu Vilayadu’ is set to change all that, and Kamal is poised to regain his number two position in Tamil cinema. The upshot of it all is that you can't keep a talented actor like Kamal down for long.
