It was years ago when John showed his comic flair in Priyadarshan’s laugh-riot Garam Masala . Though the actor was overshadowed by the more competent Akshay Kumar in the film, he still managed to tickle the funny bone in a few scenes. 
Now, John is set to return to comedy in the UTV film Hook Ya Crook to be directed by David Dhawan . The movie, it is learnt, tells the story of a crook behind bars in a maximum security prison. John will reportedly play the part. The story is written by Rensil D’Silva. This would be the first time when John would be directed by David Dhawan. John is presently shooting for Karan Johar’s production Dostana . He will shoot for Dhawan’s film after completing Johar’s movie. ‘Hook Ya Crook’ will be shot in Mumbai and Ramoji Rao Studios in Hyderabad.
